A retirement reception for Cindy Kail, chief nursing officer and director of public health for Greene County Medical Center, will be held Monday, Dec. 16, from 2 to 4 pm.
Kail is retiring after 28 years at the medical center. She started her career in 1977 as a staff nurse and then moved to the Webster County Health Department before returning to Greene County Medical Center in 1987 as supervisor of the public health department. In 1989 she was named public health director, a role she has maintained up until her retirement this year.
From 1995 until 2011 Kail also served as the medical center’s associate administrator. In 2011, she was named chief nurse executive, one of three UnityPoint Health – Des Moines administrative positions at the medical center.
Kail has been acknowledged as a respected leader across the state of Iowa in both the public health and hospital arenas. She was recognized as one of the “100 Great Iowa Nurses” in 2005, and has served in many roles throughout her nursing career.
The reception is open to the public and will take place in the public health education classroom at Greene County Medical Center.
